What an easy way to make a healthy and flavorful dinner. This recipe makes enough to freeze for another busy evening too!

Ingredients

4 Tablespoons Olive Oil
12 pieces Bacon (chopped)
3 pounds Ground Beef
Alternative(s):
3 pounds Ground Pork (Can also use half ground pork and and half ground beef)
4 Sweet Onions (finely chopped)
3 Carrots (finely chopped)
4 sticks Celery (finely chopped)
8 cloves Garlic
1 pound Button Mushrooms (about 20 button mushrooms)
4 cans Canned Diced Tomatoes (14 oz. cans)
6 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
2 Tablespoons Mixed Herbs (dried)
2 Bay Leaves
1 large glass Red wine
4 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Sugar
Pasta of Choice (cooked to serve)
Parmesan Cheese (to serve)

4 cans Canned Diced Tomatoes (14 oz. cans)
6 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
2 Tablespoons Mixed Herbs (dried)

1 large glass Red wine
4 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Sugar
Pasta of Choice (cooked to serve)
Parmesan Cheese (to serve)

Preparation

Step 1

Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Fry the bacon pieces and the ground meat in batches until brown. Add to slow cooker.

Step 2

Add the onions, carrots, celery, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes, tomato paste, herbs, wine (if using), vinegar, sugar and seasoning (salt and pepper) to the slow cooker.

Step 3

Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours, then uncover, turn to High and cook for another hour until thick and saucy.

Step 4

Serve with cooked pasta and grated or shaved parmesan cheese.
