So you still have a baby bump even though you’re not pregnant?

Maybe you just show bloat way easier since having kids?

This is all pretty normal, since our connective tissue between our six pack muscles often thins and widens during pregnancy. Postpartum, nearly 2 out of 3 women end up with diastasis recti. This contributes to that belly pooch.

I had horrible diastasis recti after my twins and was often asked if I was pregnant, when I very much was NOT pregnant.

These tips were a game changer in helping me feel more confident in clothes while I was healing my diastasis recti.

  1. FIT AND FLARE ROMPER DRESS

You want it to be form fitting on the top and looser on the low belly. This romper dress highlights all the good and flows at the low belly!

Best part about this dress is it has a built in bra with pads, and shorts underneath. Throw it on and go!

2. ROMPERS

A loose romper is the perfect way to let your belly breathe, but to still look fashionable. Throw on a cute flannel or jean jacket and you are comfy and stylish. Here are two great options.

3. One word: O-V-E-R-A-L-L-S!

These are an absolute staple in any mom’s wardrobe. You can dress them up or down. They also make it easy to access for breastfeeding.

I paired these with a cute tank, flower hair clip, and minimalist shoes that are so good for foot and pelvic floor health.

4. OVERSIZED TEE

Not only are oversized tee shirts so comfortable, but they are super cute. Tuck it in a little to hide the bump even more. This color combo is my absolute favorite!

Strong Like A Mother helps you heal your core and improve the so-called “mommy tummy.”  And let me just say: IT IS OKAY TO LOOK LIKE YOU HAD A BABY AFTER HAVING A BABY!

Learning to dress your new body so you feel comfortable (and can breathe!) matters.

I know it is hard to feel at home in your new postpartum body. Just remind yourself–your body did an epic thing making a human (or two). If your clothes don’t fit, buy bigger clothes. Our clothes are meant to fit us…not the other way around.
