Your super tight leggings piss off your pelvic floor (literally).
We all know that tight jeans suck, but tight leggings do too. (Here are some jeans that actually stretch and fit your tummy comfotably too!)
FAVORITE LEGGINGS FOR THE MOM BOD
Okay, anything Paragon is where it is at! Trust me. It is like they *actually* designed leggings for the mom bod and not like a 5’10 super model. If you are on a budget, you can’t go wrong with the last option!
I literally can’t get enough of these leggings. The waistband is long enough that it doesn’t cut your c-section pooch in half. It supports the whole enchilada. They aren’t too tight, but these leggings do offer gentle support, and they have a cute v-seam that makes the backside look so cute.
I, personally, like *anything* the SculptSeam plus because it really highlights the glutes (without a wedgie or camel toe). Here are a few options from them, BUT ALL of their stuff is 10/10 on comfort and style!
$65
Okay, these are my dressy leggings. Same support as the regular leggings, but the cute cut with the slit in the flare to show off my converse has me ready to be anything but a basic pumpkin spice latte drinker. You can dress them up or down. They come in a number of colors, and two inseams. The 31″ inseam fits my 5’3 build perfectly!
$65
2. Colorful Koala
If you are on a budget, these leggings are perfect. The waistband doesn’t cut and they are super soft…like butter! They come in so many colors, two different inseams, and they are under $30!
$25
Why tight leggings suck
When you wear those “tummy control” leggings it messes with the body’s natural breathing system.
I’ll keep it short.
The diaphragm (our breathing muscle) is supposed to push air down into our body as we inhale. This naturally relaxes the pelvic floor. As you exhale, the pelvic floor naturally recoils.
When you are “sucked in” you start breathing UP into your chest and shoulders instead of DOWN into your body. This means your pelvic floor doesn’t get that relaxation with every breath.
This can cause a host of issues.
Also, they are hella uncomfortable (especially if you’ve had a c-section).
Now listen, wearing overly tight leggings for an hour or two isn’t the end of the world. But wearing them day in, day out is when your body is going to be like “nah, girl.”
Remember, YOUR CLOTHES SHOULD FIT YOUR BODY. Not the other way around.
So buy a size up, or opt for a brand that doesn’t smash your tummy.
